Histoire du domaine
The presence of the d’Arche family in the Bordeaux region dates back to 1611, when Étienne d’Arche, regius professor at the University of Bordeaux and lawyer at the Parliament of Guyenne, established a family branch there and acquired a wine estate. In 1733, his great-grandson François d’Arche, royal councillor, purchased the cru of Braneyre and gave it his name. Confiscated and then sold as national property during the French Revolution, the estate was subsequently divided among several families. In 1855, then owned by Monsieur Lafaurie & Cie, Château d’Arche was recognized as a Deuxième Grand Cru in the classification of the white wines of the Gironde. Armand Bastit-Saint-Martin took over its management in 1925 and initiated the reunification of the estate. The property was acquired in 1996 by Belgian businessman Philippe Boël, who progressively expanded its vineyard holdings from 50 to 90 hectares. A hotel opened in 2002, followed in 2019 by a new 2,500 m² eco-responsible cellar equipped with 33 vats allowing for parcel-by-parcel vinification. Following the death of Philippe Boël in January 2024, his daughters Caroline and Nathalie became the owners of the château.
