Champagne Larmandier Latitude magnum
Champagne Larmandier-Bernier Latitude is a non-vintage sparkling white Champagne crafted exclusively from Chardonnay. This Extra Brut cuvée, classified as Premier Cru, brings together grapes from the south of Vertus on the Côte des Blancs. It incorporates 40% of wine from the estate's perpetual reserve, initiated in 2004. The wines undergo spontaneous fermentation in barrels and large oak casks (foudres), followed by aging on lees before a second bottle fermentation of at least two years. The dosage is 2 g/l.

Histoire du domaine
According to the estate’s history, the Larmandier and Bernier families have been involved in viticulture in the Côte des Blancs since 1765. In 1971, Philippe Larmandier and his wife Élisabeth Bernier, who at the time owned vineyards in Vertus, founded Champagne Larmandier-Bernier and built their cellar there. Their son Pierre joined the estate in 1988 alongside Sophie Larmandier. In 1992, Pierre Larmandier stopped using herbicides altogether and placed soil management at the heart of the vineyard’s cultivation practices. The estate has applied biodynamic principles to all its vineyards since 1999 and uses indigenous yeasts for fermentation, as well as ageing in barrels and casks. Four hectares were acquired in Vertus in 2002. A winery was built in 2010 to increase capacity for oak ageing and maturation. The estate then purchased vineyards in Avize in 2018, whilst maintaining the principle of vinifying only its own grapes. Arthur Larmandier joined his parents in 2017, followed by Georges Larmandier, who joined the estate in 2021. A second winery was built in 2025 to allow for longer ageing periods.
Latitude
Latitude is a non-mintage cuvée composed exclusively of Chardonnay from the richest terroirs south of Vertus. It combines several terroirs and several years, notably thanks to the estate's perpetual reserve started in 2004. It is crafted as an extra-brut and is distinguished from Longitude by a rounder and more generous expression.
- Origin of the cuvée name
- The name "Latitude" evokes the origin of the Chardonnays, all coming from the same latitude south of Vertus, and replaces the former name "Tradition" to better characterize the round, rich, and charming style of the cuvée.
- Style of the cuvée
- A harmonious, broad, and round Blanc de Blancs with a rich, generous, and charming style, while preserving the characteristic purity of the estate's champagnes.
- Position within the range
- Non-vintage blended cuvée presented by the estate as its festive champagne accessible at any time.
Histoire de la cuvée
This cuvée historically bore the name "Tradition", chosen in the 1970s by the parents of Pierre Larmandier. It was later renamed "Latitude" to better reflect both its geographical origin south of Vertus and its round and charming character. The exact date of the adoption of the name Latitude is not documented by the consulted sources.
