Histoire du domaine
Domaine Sigaut stems from a family originally from Morey-Saint-Denis, and its history dates back to the early 19th century. The Sigaut family now represents the fifth generation to cultivate the vines. In the early 1950s, Maurice Sigaut carried out the estate’s first bottlings, notably a Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru ‘Les Sentiers’. In 1977, his son Hervé took over the vineyards from his grandmother Andrée and established an initial 5-hectare estate, before later taking over his father’s vineyards. Anne, then working as an interior designer and upholsterer in Nancy, took part in her first grape harvest at the estate in 1984. The estate expanded its presence in the Côte de Beaune in 1994 with the acquisition of a plot in Puligny-Montrachet. Anne Sigaut produced her first vintage in 2004. When Hervé Sigaut officially retired in 2008, she took over the management of the estate and assumed responsibility for winemaking. The vineyard now covers 7 hectares in Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis and Puligny-Montrachet.
Les Chatelots
Les Chatelots is a climat officially recognized as a geographical designation of Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru, located in the center of the commune's vineyard. Its topography is described as slightly hollow and gently sloping, within the alluvial cone of the combe of Chambolle. The terrain is calcareous and rests primarily on Comblanchien limestone, with a more limited presence of entrochal limestone reported on part of the climat. The eastern exposure and the altitudinal range of 250 to 300 meters are documented for the Chambolle-Musigny hillside as a whole, but not precisely enough to be attributed solely to the climat.
