Domaine Pingus
Dominio de Pingus is the estate founded by the Danish oenologist Peter Sisseck in the Ribera del Duero, in Castile and León. Situated around La Horra and Quintanilla de Onésimo, it primarily cultivates Tempranillo, known locally as Tinto Fino. The estate cultivates its own vineyards and produces, in particular, Pingus, Flor de Pingus and, as part of a separate project involving local winegrowers, PSI.

Histoire du domaine
Peter Sisseck settled in the Ribera del Duero in the early 1990s following training and work experience, notably in Bordeaux and California. He initially held technical roles at Hacienda Monasterio. In 1994, he discovered a plot of very old Tinto Fino vines in La Horra, which became the starting point for his personal project. Dominio de Pingus was founded in 1995 and its first wine was produced that same year. The name Pingus is derived from Peter Sisseck’s nickname in his native Denmark. The vineyard producing Pingus includes, in particular, the San Cristóbal plot, planted in 1929, as well as vines from Barroso; it covers just over four hectares. The estate gradually developed Flor de Pingus from 1996 onwards, using other plots of old vines in La Horra. Since the mid-2000s, Peter Sisseck has also set up the PSI project with owners of old plots in the Ribera del Duero, with the aim of promoting these vineyards. Biodynamic practices were introduced to the Pingus vineyards during the 2000s. Peter Sisseck remains the owner of the estate and is directly responsible for winemaking.
