Domaine Robert Groffier Chambolle Musigny Sentiers 2017
The Domaine Robert Groffier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Sentiers 2017 is a red Burgundy wine from the Chambolle-Musigny appellation. Made from 100% Pinot Noir, it comes from the Les Sentiers climat, classified as Premier Cru. Located on the edge of Bonnes-Mares, this parcel yields, in the estate's style, a broader Chambolle, combining the appellation's characteristic finesse with a firmer structure. The family estate, based in Morey-Saint-Denis, cultivates exclusively Pinot Noir across its eight hectares in the Côte de Nuits.

Histoire du domaine
The Groffier family’s roots in viticulture date back to the 19th century, with Frédéric Groffier. Between the 1930s and 1950s, Jules Groffier built up a significant part of the family’s wine-growing estate in Chambolle-Musigny and in the grands crus, notably at Les Amoureuses, Bonnes-Mares and Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze. His son Robert Groffier, born in 1931, began working in the vineyards in 1945 and established the estate in its current form. He began bottling wine at the estate in the 1960s, whilst continuing to sell some of the grapes to wine merchants until the 1990s. Serge Groffier worked alongside his father from his teenage years and was responsible for winemaking from 1984 to 2006. Nicolas Groffier joined the estate in 2005 and has been in charge of the wines since 2007. Julie Groffier joined the estate in 2014; she now works alongside Nicolas in running this family-owned estate. The estate is based in Morey-Saint-Denis, whilst its vineyards are spread across Chambolle-Musigny and Gevrey-Chambertin.
Les Sentiers
Les Sentiers is a Premier Cru climat in Chambolle-Musigny, located north of the village near the border with Morey-Saint-Denis. It forms a strip of vineyards immediately below Bonnes-Mares, from which it is mainly separated by the Route des Grands Crus. Facing south-east, it occupies a moderate slope that tends to flatten out towards the bottom. The clayey to clay-limestone soils, which are quite deep and mixed with stones, rest in a limestone sector heavily compartmentalized by faults.

Histoire de la parcelle
Les Sentiers was already individualized in 19th-century wine classifications: Jules Lavalle ranked it as a third cuvée in 1855, while the 1861 statistical map more favorably distinguished its upper section. The Chambolle-Musigny appellation was recognized on September 11, 1936. Today, Les Sentiers is among the climats officially recognized with the "Premier Cru" designation.
