Domaine Ganevat
Located in La Combe de Rotalier, Domaine Ganevat farms a fragmented Jura vineyard spread across several lieux-dits, notably En Billat, Les Grands Teppes, and Les Chalasses. Jean-François Ganevat has developed a deeply detailed, plot-by-plot approach to Chardonnay, Savagnin, and the red grape varieties of the Jura, practicing committed biodynamic viticulture since 2005. Jocelyn Broncard, cellar master since 2021, now ensures the continuity of vinification alongside Jean-François Ganevat.

Histoire du domaine
The Ganevat family's winemaking presence in the Jura dates back to the 17th century. After working with his father, and then for nine years at Domaine Jean-Marc Morey in Chassagne-Montrachet, Jean-François Ganevat took over the family estate in 1998. He progressively developed a highly parcel-specific production, revived several ancient grape varieties, and adopted biodynamic principles starting in 2005. In 2021, wishing to organize the transition of the estate, Jean-François Ganevat sold the vineyards, the name, and the trading activity to investor Alexander Pumpyansky, while remaining involved alongside his sister Anne; oenologist Jocelyn Broncard then joined the estate as cellar master and anticipated technical successor. Following the disruptions linked to the sanctions resulting from the invasion of Ukraine, ownership passed in 2023 to Benoît Pontenier and Jocelyn Broncard. Jean-François Ganevat remains active in the decisions and work of the estate, while Jocelyn Broncard gradually takes over the management of the cellar.
Julien en Billat
Julien en Billat is documented as a distinct cuvée from Domaine Ganevat. Historically, it blends the Pinot Noir wines from Cuvée Julien, originating from clay-limestone soils, and En Billat, located on schist. Certain recent vintages marked by low yields appear under the expanded denomination "Julien en Billat – L’Enfant Terrible du Sud" and may combine several red grape varieties.
- Origin of the cuvée name
- The name combines those of the two Pinot Noir selections "Cuvée Julien" and "En Billat", blended together when volumes do not allow for their separate production.
- Style of the cuvée
- A Jura red wine seeking freshness, finesse, and a silky texture, with the complexity derived from contrasting terroirs. Its precise identity may evolve depending on the blends necessitated by low yields.
- Position within the range
- A rare red cuvée resulting from the blending of selections normally vinified separately.
Histoire de la cuvée
The cuvée is produced during reduced harvests by combining the two Pinot Noir cuvées Julien and En Billat, notably documented in 2013 and 2014. Climatic hazards subsequently led the estate to use an expanded version of the name for certain red grape blends.
