Domaine Hubert De Montille
Domaine de Montille is a family-run estate based in Volnay, in the Côte-d’Or, whose vineyards now extend across the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits. Owned and managed by Étienne de Montille, it cultivates 37 hectares, predominantly in Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards, across appellations such as Volnay, Pommard, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Vosne-Romanée. Histoire du domaine
The estate’s origins date back to the 1730s, when the Chauvelot de Chevannes family, who owned vineyards, settled in Volnay. The estate took the name Domaine de Montille in 1863, following the marriage of Marie Éléonore Chauvelot de Chevannes to Étienne Joseph Marie Léonce Bizouard de Montille. In the 19th century, the estate comprised around 30 hectares of vineyards in the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits. However, the consequences of the phylloxera crisis and a series of sales reduced the estate’s holdings to around 2.5 hectares by the end of the Second World War. Hubert de Montille took over the estate in 1947 and set about gradually rebuilding the family vineyard, whilst producing and marketing his wines himself rather than selling the grapes to wine merchants. His son Étienne joined the estate in 1983, before becoming co-manager and head of winemaking in 1995, the year in which the transition to organic farming began. He took full charge of the estate in 2002 and subsequently expanded the vineyard, notably through the acquisition of plots in the Côte de Nuits between 2003 and 2005. In 2012, the estate acquired the Château de Puligny-Montrachet, adding around 15 hectares of white grape vineyards to its holdings. The vineyard now covers 37 hectares, and winemaking is overseen in the cellar by Brian Sieve, the cellar master, with Jacques Montagnon responsible for the white wine production processes.
Corton Clos du Roy
Le Clos du Roi is a physically demarcated climat of Aloxe-Corton, officially recognized as a climat name that can complement the Corton AOC for red wines. It occupies a southeast-facing hillside position between approximately 280 and 315 meters of altitude, with a stated slope of 15 to 25%. Its brown, stony soils marked by iron oxides overlie a complex geology compartmentalized by a fault.

Histoire de la parcelle
The vineyard, formerly called "Cloux de Corton", belonged to the Dukes of Burgundy. After the death of Charles the Bold in 1477, the ducal lands were seized by Louis XI and attached to the royal domain. The oldest known mention dates back to 1309, while the term "clos" consistently appears with this vineyard starting in 1346. The current name only became established in usage during the 19th century, and the 1791 cadastral survey of Aloxe already delineates a lieu-dit named "Cloux du Roi".
