Histoire du domaine
The estate's history is rooted in the Michelot family, coopers in Meursault before turning to viticulture in the 19th century. After the Second World War, Bernard Michelot, born in 1926, joined his father Alfred in the vineyards and then married Lucie Buisson in 1949. The couple expanded the property, introduced estate bottling in the 1950s, and gradually grew the family vineyard to 19 hectares. In 1998, Bernard and Lucie Michelot divided the estate among their three daughters. Geneviève Michelot and her daughter Véronique Bonin then pooled their seven-hectare share under the name Michelot Mère et Fille. Véronique Bonin and Nicolas Bernard subsequently took over this operation, which became Domaine Bernard-Bonin and produced its first vintage in 1999. The couple quickly initiated an organic conversion, officially certified in 2015, and began experimenting with biodynamic practices in 2007. In 2021, the acquisition of plots originating from Chantal, Véronique's aunt, brought the estate's surface area to nine hectares.
Initiales BB
Initiales B.B. is a Bourgogne blanc from Domaine Bernard-Bonin, crafted from several plots located around Meursault. Sources notably describe two sectors close to Le Limozin, Les Genevrières, Les Coutures, and Les Pellans. This is therefore a proprietary cuvée name specific to the estate, rather than an appellation or a cadastral climat.
- Style of the cuvée
- Bourgogne blanc generally described as dense, deep, and concentrated, while retaining freshness, elegance, and mineral expression.
- Position within the range
- Bourgogne blanc within the range, positioned upstream of the various Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet cuvées.
