Histoire du domaine
Venture Whisky Co., Ltd. was founded in September 2004 by Ichiro Akuto. The company was initially established to preserve and market stocks of whisky from the former Hanyu distillery, which were linked to Akuto’s family business. Around 400 casks of whisky, which were at that time in danger of being lost, were acquired and stored with the support of Sasanokawa Shuzo. The first releases under the Ichiro’s Malt brand began in 2005. Ichiro Akuto then established his own distillery in Chichibu in 2007. The whisky production licence was granted in February 2008, and the first single malt distilled in Chichibu was launched in 2011. A second distillery opened in October 2019 to increase production capacity. Ichiro Akuto remains the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Venture Whisky and also serves as the company’s master blender.
