Château Ferrière 1999 Bottle (75cl)
The 1999 Château Ferrière is a red wine from the Margaux appellation in Bordeaux, produced by Château Ferrière. A Troisième Grand Cru Classé in 1855, it brings together 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc. For this vintage, malolactic fermentation was carried out in new barrels, followed by sixteen months of oak ageing, with 60% new oak barrels. The cuvée combines a core of ripe fruit with minty, vanilla, and roasted notes, supported by melted tannins and a long finish.

Histoire du domaine
Château Ferrière traces its origins to the late 17th century, when Gabriel Ferrière, a maritime broker based in Bordeaux, acquired vineyard land in Margaux, to which he gave his name. The Ferrière family retained ownership of the estate for nearly three centuries. In 1855, the wine was classified as a third grand cru in the Médoc and Graves wine classification. In the late 1980s, the estate was acquired by the Merlaut family. Bernadette Merlaut-Villars then undertook the restoration of the estate. Following her accidental death, her daughter Claire Villars-Lurton took over the management of the estate. Under her leadership, the vineyard was converted to organic farming, with certification obtained in 2015, and subsequently to biodynamic farming, certified by Demeter and Biodyvin since 2018. The estate is now cultivated across 24 hectares within the Margaux appellation. Alexandre Beaumont serves as cellar master, whilst Charles de Ravinel is the technical director.
