Chapoutier Saint Joseph Les Granits Blanc 2010 Bouteille (75cl)
Chapoutier Saint-Joseph Les Granits Blanc 2010 is a white wine from the Rhône Valley, produced by Domaine Chapoutier in the Saint-Joseph appellation. This cuvée is made from 100% Marsanne, selected from the estate's oldest vines on its Saint-Joseph terroirs. The grapes come from very steep granitic slopes south of Tournon. Harvested by hand, the wine is whole-bunch pressed, then fermented half in tanks and half in demi-muids. Lees ageing lasts for eight to ten months, with battonage prior to blending and bottling.

Histoire du domaine
The company’s origins date back to 1808, with the founding of Calvet et Compagnie on Rue de l’Hermitage in Tain. In 1897, Marius Chapoutier went into partnership with Rodolphe Delépine to form Delépine et Chapoutier, which at that time exported its wines to the Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany. Following Delépine’s departure in 1922, Marius renamed the company Chapoutier et Compagnie. In 1928, he acquired the La Ciboise estate, then in 1929 had a new winery built at the foot of the Hermitage hill. On his death in 1937, his son Marc succeeded him. In 1955, Marc renamed the company M. Chapoutier. Michel Chapoutier took over the management of the company in 1990, having launched the first single-vineyard selections in 1989. The conversion of the vineyard to biodynamic farming began at that time. Under his leadership, the company gradually acquired estates and vineyards in Australia from 1998, in Roussillon in 2000, in Portugal in 2007, and subsequently in Alsace and Spain, amongst other places. Mathilde and Maxime Chapoutier have joined Michel and Corinne Chapoutier in the family business; Clément Bartschi currently serves as cellar master there.
Les Granits
Les Granits is a parcel selection of Saint-Joseph marketed in red and white. The red relies on old Syrah vines and the white on Marsanne, planted on granitic slopes in the historical sector of the appellation. Both wines seek a concentrated and enduring expression of this terroir.
- Origin of the cuvée name
- The name refers to the very poor, stony granitic soils from which the two expressions of the cuvée originate.
- Cuvée creation year
- 1995
- Style of the cuvée
- The red generally presents a deep, structured, smoky, and peppery expression of Syrah, with high aging potential. The white combines breadth and texture with a mineral, fresh, and often saline expression of Marsanne, evolving towards honeyed nuances with age.
- Position within the range
- High-end parcel selection of Saint-Joseph, integrated into the Fac & Spera collection by M. CHAPOUTIER.
Histoire de la cuvée
Les Granits has been documented in red and white since the 1995 vintage. The Maison now integrates it into Fac & Spera, its range of parcel selections designed as the precise expression of a parcel and its terroir.
