Histoire du domaine
Arnaud Ente, the grandson of a winegrower, initially pursued a career in science before turning to viticulture. In 1992, he took over the vineyards of his in-laws in Meursault, where his father-in-law, Philippe Thévenot, was a winegrower. The estate was built up around these family-owned plots in the Côte de Beaune. Arnaud Ente subsequently expanded the business with his wife Marie-Odile, the daughter of a winegrower. The estate achieved organic certification in 2012, according to a professional profile published in 2019. Their son, Pierre Ente, who holds a BTS in viticulture and oenology, has joined the family business and is preparing to take it over. Arnaud and Pierre Ente are now involved in the vineyard work and cellar decisions. Since 2017, the estate has gradually introduced Wineglobe glass containers; the estate’s website states that, since 2023, these have been used for the vinification and ageing of white wines, as well as for the ageing of reds.
La Sève du Clos
La Sève du Clos is a distinct white Meursault, crafted from a selection of the oldest vines in the lieu-dit En l’Ormeau. The estate separates this harvest from those destined for other Meursault wines originating from the same clos, notably based on the age of the vines. This cuvée falls under the Meursault village appellation and is not a premier cru.
- Style of the cuvée
- A highly concentrated Meursault that nevertheless retains tension, precision, and freshness, featuring a marked mineral expression and a renowned aging potential. Its overall style combines the density of very old vines with a sensation of finesse and lightness.
- Position within the range
- A rare cuvee from very old vines, positioned at the pinnacle of the estate's Meursault village wines.
Histoire de la cuvée
The cuvee comes from the very old vines of En l’Ormeau, a plot acquired in 1951 by Arnaud Ente's father-in-law, some of which were already old at that time. Following the gradual replacement of missing vines starting in 1999, the old vines have continued to be harvested separately from the younger plantings in order to preserve this distinct cuvee.
En l'Ormeau
En l’Ormeau is a climat of the Meursault appellation, officially classified at the Village level. The heritage dossier of the Climats du vignoble de Bourgogne identifies it in the AW cadastral section of Meursault. Located in the immediate vicinity of the village, it notably includes an old walled vineyard enclosure, but the soil characteristics published for a single producer's vines cannot be generalized to the entire climat.
