Histoire du domaine
The presence of the Tercinier family in Saintonge dates back to the arrival of Robin Tercinier in 1480. In 1791, Louis Vallein acquired Domaine des Forges; his son Napoléon subsequently divided the property between his two descendants. Georges Vallein, one of his sons, founded the house's commercial entity in 1850 and developed the sale of bottled cognac as an owner, distiller, and merchant. His son Paul Vallein succeeded him and around 1920 acquired the Camille Dupuis company, which produced its own blends. Louis Tercinier, son of Édith Vallein and grandson of Georges, joined his uncle Paul after the First World War and expanded the house's markets in Europe. Robert Tercinier in turn joined his father Louis in 1947; during the Trente Glorieuses, the distillery's eight stills produced for the house as well as for other merchants. In the 1990s, his children Louis and Catherine Tercinier divided the management of the vineyard and the trading activity. At the beginning of 2026, Guillaume Tercinier took over Domaine des Forges from his aunt Catherine Roudier-Tercinier. Foucauld de Menditte remains the active cellar master, with Guillaume slated to succeed him upon his retirement.
Odyssee
At Vallein-Tercinier, Odyssée designates vintage cognacs marketed as distinct references, notably Odyssée 2000 Fins Bois and Odyssée 2002 Bons Bois. The 2000 edition is documented as a Fins Bois cognac from a single cask and offered at cask strength. The vintage and cru systematically complete the name Odyssée.
- Style of the cuvée
- Single-cask vintage cognacs emphasizing freshness, floral expression, and the identity of the cru, bottled at high strength.
- Position within the range
- A vintage, single-cru limited edition within the house's selection of old cognacs.
Histoire de la cuvée
This reference is attested in Vallein-Tercinier's portfolio of vintage cognacs with at least two editions, Odyssée 2000 Fins Bois and Odyssée 2002 Bons Bois. The commercial launch date of the first edition could not be verified.
