Histoire du domaine
La Revue du vin de France dates the acquisition of the family estate to 1885, while Richard Fouquet traces the beginning of the estate's history to the arrival of his great-great-grandparents in Cramant in 1890. The family initially sold their still wines in barrels, then began commercializing bottles in 1947 under the Guiborat Fils brand. Following the early passing of Richard's grandfather, his grandmother ensured the continuity of the estate. Richard Fouquet took over the estate in 1995 at the age of 21, alongside his studies, representing the fifth generation. He devotes himself primarily to the cellar and tank room, which he manages alone, while his wife Karine takes charge of sales and communication starting in 2008. The family's vineyard holdings reach approximately eight hectares, only part of which is reserved for Guiborat cuvées, with the remainder historically destined for Champagne négociants, notably Laurent-Perrier. The Les Caurés plot in Chouilly, planted in 1946 by Richard's grandfather, goes into the De Caurés à Mont Aigu cuvée, created as a tribute to him.
De Caurés à Mont Aigu
A vintage Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne made exclusively from Chardonnay from the Les Caurés and Le Mont-Aigu plots in Chouilly. The blend seeks complementarity between Les Caurés, a cool sector on fractured chalk, and the more solar Le Mont-Aigu. The cuvée is aged for a long time on its lees and crafted without malolactic fermentation.
- Origin of the cuvée name
- The name combines those of the two Chouilly plots blended in the cuvée: Les Caurés and Le Mont-Aigu.
- Cuvée creation year
- 2014
- Style of the cuvée
- A chalky, taut and precise Blanc de Blancs, combining freshness, mineral firmness and fullness. The complementarity of the two plots brings balance and aging potential.
- Position within the range
- A rare, long-aged dual-plot cuvee positioned among the estate's high-end expressions.
Histoire de la cuvée
The first documented vintage under the name "De Caurés à Mont Aigu" is 2014. It succeeds a distinct expression of the single lieu-dit Le Mont-Aigu from 2013 in the range, reflecting the estate's choice to combine two complementary plots rather than systematically isolating a single terroir.
