Domaine Francois Mikulski Meursault Charmes VV 1913 2021 Magnum (150cl)
The 2021 Domaine François Mikulski Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes Vieilles Vignes 1913 is a white Burgundy wine made from 100% Chardonnay. This cuvée comes from a 0.18-hectare parcel in the Les Charmes climat, planted in 1913 and farmed by the estate since 1992. The vines, cultivated using uncertified organic farming methods, rest on a subsoil of thin limestone plates. Barrel aging enhances the expression of the terroir in this old-vine Meursault 1er Cru.

Histoire du domaine
François Mikulski learnt the art of viticulture from his uncle, Pierre Boillot, in Meursault. He took over the running of this vineyard in the early 1990s and founded Domaine François Mikulski with his wife, Marie-Pierre; the estate’s first vintage was produced in 1992. The first vineyards cultivated were partly sourced from the Boillot family, notably under a leasehold arrangement. The estate subsequently built up a vineyard of around 9.5 hectares, mainly located in Meursault, with plots also classified as Bourgogne, Volnay, Saint-Aubin and Monthélie. The vines are cultivated using uncertified organic practices, as stated by the estate. In the cellar, fermentation relies on indigenous yeasts and ageing takes place mainly in barrels for around twelve months. Thomas Boccon joined the estate in 2011; he is the son-in-law of François and Marie-Pierre Mikulski and oversees the winemaking process. The estate is now owned and run as a family business involving François, Marie-Pierre and Anna Mikulski alongside Thomas Boccon.
VV 1913
This distinct cuvée from Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes comes exclusively from a 0.18-hectare vine planted in 1913. The estate has farmed it under a sharecropping agreement since 1992 and markets it separately under the designation “Vieilles Vignes 1913”. Its production is particularly limited.
- Origin of the cuvée name
- “VV” stands for “Vieilles Vignes” and “1913” corresponds to the year the vine was planted by Joseph Boillot, grandfather of François Mikulski.
- Style of the cuvée
- Rich, deep, and concentrated white wine, retaining freshness and terroir expression thanks to measured oak aging. Its amplitude, structure, and length destine it for extended cellaring.
- Position within the range
- Distinct parcel selection from the standard Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes, produced in very small quantities.
Histoire de la cuvée
The cuvée originates from a Charmes vine planted in 1913 by Joseph Boillot. Farmed by Domaine François Mikulski since 1992, this century-old plot was notably presented in 2013 as a special cuvee stamped “1913”. The sources consulted do not establish with certainty its first year of separate bottling.
Charmes (Meursault)
Charmes is a Premier Cru climat of Meursault, located south of the village near the border with Puligny-Montrachet. It encompasses the lieux-dits Les Charmes-Dessus and Les Charmes-Dessous and forms the largest Premier Cru climat in Meursault. Situated in the middle and lower part of the slope, it has a predominantly east to south-east exposure. Sources describe clay-limestone, stony soils resting notably on hard Jurassic limestones and marly limestones.

Histoire de la parcelle
Les Charmes-Dessus and Les Charmes-Dessous appear in the historical land registry of Meursault and are documented in particular by the maps from the Napoleonic cadastre preserved in the departmental archives of Côte-d’Or. Their unification under the climat name Charmes was consecrated by the delimitation of the Meursault Premier Cru appellation.
