Domaine Drouhin Bienvenues Batard Montrachet 1986 Bouteille (75cl)
The 1986 Domaine Drouhin Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet is a white Burgundy wine made from Chardonnay, originating from the Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet climat in Puligny-Montrachet. Classified as a Grand Cru de Bourgogne, it comes from an appellation reserved for white wines whose production area is located within the commune of Puligny-Montrachet. The traditional profile of this cru combines depth, unctuous texture, and firmness, with evolving notes of dried fruits, spices, and honey.

Histoire du domaine
Maison Joseph Drouhin was founded in Beaune in 1880, when Joseph Drouhin, aged 22, took over an established business in the town’s historic centre. From 1918 onwards, his son Maurice began developing an estate-owned vineyard. In 1921, he acquired his first plot at Clos des Mouches, in Beaune. Robert Drouhin took over in 1957 and continued to expand the estate, notably through the acquisition of Premier Crus and Grands Crus in the Côte de Nuits. In the late 1960s, he significantly expanded the estate’s presence in Chablis, acquiring nearly 40 hectares and the Moulin de Vaudon. In 1987, Robert Drouhin founded Domaine Drouhin Oregon with his daughter Véronique. Philippe Drouhin took over the management of the estates in 1988 and gradually shifted viticultural practices towards organic and biodynamic farming. The company is now run by Philippe, Véronique Boss-Drouhin, Laurent and Frédéric Drouhin; Véronique Boss-Drouhin is responsible for the cellar and winemaking. In 2023, the acquisition of two estates in Saint-Romain and Saint-Véran brought the estate’s own vineyard area to nearly 100 hectares.
Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet
Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet is a physically delimited climat of Puligny-Montrachet, also constituting a Grand Cru Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée reserved for white wines. It occupies the lower part of the slope, with an east and south-east exposure, at an altitude of approximately 250 meters. Clayey colluvium, relatively poor in limestone pebbles, covers a Callovian subsoil of slab limestones, which favors drainage.

Histoire de la parcelle
In the 18th century, the wines from the "Bienvenues" climat still appear to have been grouped with those of Montrachet or Bâtard. A court ruling in 1921 established the hierarchy of the grand crus of Puligny-Montrachet, and then the plot area of Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet was individualized and recognized under the "grand cru" designation in 1939.
