Domaine Zind Humbrecht Clos Saint Urbain Riesling Rangen de Thann 2021 Bouteille (75cl)
The 2021 Domaine Zind Humbrecht Clos Saint Urbain Riesling Rangen de Thann is an Alsace white wine made from 100% Riesling. Sourced from the Clos Saint Urbain cuvée, this dry Riesling reveals, according to critics, a concentrated and taut profile marked by lemon, smoky and saline notes, stony minerality, and ripe acidity. James Suckling awards it 98/100 and recommends enjoying it ideally from 2025. The Wine Advocate rates it 89/100, estimating it will gain in finesse and complexity with aging, up to 2040.

Histoire du domaine
The Humbrecht family claims a winemaking continuity in Alsace dating back to 1620. Domaine Zind-Humbrecht was established in 1959 in Wintzenheim by Léonard Humbrecht and Geneviève Zind, uniting the wine-growing heritage of both families. Its vineyard grew with the acquisition of Clos Saint-Urbain in the Rangen de Thann grand cru in 1977, parcels in Hengst, Brand, and Heimbourg in 1978, Clos Jebsal in 1983, and Clos Windsbuhl in 1987. At the same time, Léonard Humbrecht modernized vinification, notably by installing temperature control in the traditional foudres in 1981 and whole-bunch pressing starting in 1986. Olivier Humbrecht took over responsibility for the wines and the vineyard in 1989, the year he earned the Master of Wine title. In 1992, the estate installed its cellars and operational buildings in the heart of Herrenweg de Turckheim. The first trials in organic and biodynamic agriculture began in 1997; the entire estate achieved Ecocert certification in 2000, followed by Biodyvin certification in 2002. Olivier and Margaret Humbrecht have co-managed the estate since the early 2000s, and their son Pierre-Émile joined them in 2019, now also working on wine production.
