Domaine Sauzet Puligny Montrachet La Garenne 2023 Bouteille (75cl)
The 2023 Domaine Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet La Garenne is a Premier Cru white Burgundy from the La Garenne parcel in the Puligny-Montrachet appellation. It is made from 100% Chardonnay. Jancis Robinson awards it 16.5/20 and recommends drinking between 2027 and 2035. The critic describes a taut and chiselled wine with stone fruit nuances, a taffeta-like texture, and a sweetness that unfolds progressively on the finish.

Histoire du domaine
Étienne Sauzet founded the estate in Puligny-Montrachet in the first half of the 20th century, starting with vines he had inherited and subsequently expanding through further acquisitions. He gradually developed the estate, which, according to industry sources, reached just over 12 hectares by the middle of the century. On his death in 1975, his granddaughter Jeanine and her husband Gérard Boudot took over the management of the estate. A division of the estate’s assets in 1991 then significantly reduced the vineyard’s original area. Since then, the estate has supplemented its own vines by purchasing grapes for certain cuvées. Émilie Boudot joined the business from the 2000 vintage onwards, followed by Benoît Riffault in 2002. Benoît Riffault gradually took charge of winemaking and succeeded Gérard Boudot in this role. The vineyard is now managed using biodynamic methods, under the responsibility of Émilie Boudot and Benoît Riffault.
La Garenne
La Garenne is a Premier Cru classified climat in Puligny-Montrachet, located high up on the hillside near the hamlet of Blagny and above Champ Gain. The production specifications associate the climat name 'La Garenne' with the cadastral lieux-dits 'La Garenne' or 'Sur la Garenne' and authorize only white wine under this name. Its exposure is described by various sources as east to south-east, on limestone, marly, thin, and stony soils. It should not be confused with 'Clos de la Garenne', another Premier Cru climat in Puligny-Montrachet, which corresponds notably to lieux-dits attached to Champ Canet.

Histoire de la parcelle
The Puligny-Montrachet appellation was established in 1937. La Garenne is included in the regulatory demarcation of climats authorized to bear the Premier Cru designation, whose specific parcel area was approved by the INAO on May 17 and 18, 1984. The regulations explicitly distinguish La Garenne from Clos de la Garenne.
