Domain Rene Renou Bonnezeaux Cuvee Zenith 1995
The 1995 Domaine René Renou Bonnezeaux Cuvée Zénith is a Loire white wine made from 100% Chenin Blanc, produced in the Bonnezeaux appellation. This vintage marks the launch of the estate's wines under the René Renou name, following the separation from Domaine de Terrebrune. Cuvée Zénith was born from a heavily botrytis-affected 1995 harvest, resulting in a particularly concentrated, sweet Bonnezeaux. A recent tasting reveals notes of marmalade, honey, crème brûlée, black tea, and spices, underpinned by a freshness that balances its richness.

Histoire du domaine
Domaine René Renou belonged to a line of winemakers established for several generations in Thouarcé. René Renou's father participated, alongside Mr. Boivin, in the efforts that led to the recognition of the Bonnezeaux appellation in 1951. René Renou, born in 1952, represented the sixth generation of the family and notably produced the cuvées Les Melleresses and Zénith, the latter corresponding to a selection of grapes from the finest sorting passes. Alongside his activity as a grower-producer, he held significant professional responsibilities and chaired the national committee for wines and spirits of the INAO. He died suddenly on June 19, 2006, during a mission in Seoul. The Guide Hachette indicated at the time that his sons were to ensure the survival of the estate, of which a seventh generation had already begun joining the operation. The SARL Domaine René Renou, created in 1995 and domiciled place du Champ-de-Foire in Thouarcé, nevertheless ceased its activity on September 30, 2016; no currently active owner or cellar master could be verified.
