Histoire du domaine

The Perrot-Minot estate is based in Morey-Saint-Denis in buildings dating from the 16th and 17th centuries. According to the history published by the estate, the origins of the family’s wine-making business date back to the mid-18th century, with Étienne de Mermety and Louise Le Breton des Chapelles. The estate was subsequently passed down through marriages and inheritance amongst several families based in the Morey-Saint-Denis and Chambolle-Musigny areas. At the end of the 19th century, Esther Morizot and Amédée Merme marked an important stage in this lineage. Their son, Alexandre Armand Merme, went on to run the estate in the 20th century. Marie-France Merme, Armand’s daughter, married Henri Perrot-Minot, thereby introducing the Perrot-Minot name into the family business. In 1993, their son Christophe Perrot-Minot took over the management of the estate after working for seven years as a wine broker. He is now in charge of running the estate and overseeing the winemaking process. The official website states that the vineyard currently covers 8 hectares and is certified organic.

La Richemone

La Richemone is a Nuits-Saint-Georges climat located in the northern part of the commune, on the hillside near Vosne-Romanée, between Les Damodes upstream and Aux Murgers downstream. The area demarcated under this name is officially classified as a Premier Cru, while the product specifications state that the classification concerns only a portion of the cadastral lieu-dit. The climat occupies the middle of the slope, around 270 to 280 meters, with an eastern exposure. The soils are described as silty clays mixed with oolitic scree, resting on Calcaire rose de Premeaux.

Origin of the vineyard name
The proposed origin associates "riche" with "mone", a form evoking nuns: the climat is said to have belonged to wealthy religious women. This interpretation remains hypothetical.

Histoire de la parcelle

La Richemone appears in cadastral section A2 of Nuits-Saint-Georges; the heritage dossier for the Climats de Bourgogne traces its cadastral demarcation to 1949. Its name is now regulatory recognized among the climats that can accompany the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation with the Premier Cru designation. Accounts of former monastic ownership are reported by several professional sources, but the religious establishment concerned varies according to authors and this attribution cannot therefore be taken as certain.
