Domain Ganevat Cotes du Jura Blanc Cuvee Marguerite 2015 Magnum
The 2015 Domaine Ganevat Côtes du Jura Blanc Cuvée Marguerite is a white wine from the Jura produced from Chardonnay. This cuvée originates from an old Jura Chardonnay selection, Melon à Queue Rouge, from ungrafted vines planted in 1876. The wine is aged for one year in barrels, an approach that highlights the unique identity of this historic selection within the Côtes du Jura appellation.

Domaine Ganevat
Located in La Combe de Rotalier, Domaine Ganevat farms a fragmented Jura vineyard spread across several lieux-dits, notably En Billat, Les Grands Teppes, and Les Chalasses. Jean-François Ganevat has developed a deeply detailed, plot-by-plot approach to Chardonnay, Savagnin, and the red grape varieties of the Jura, practicing committed biodynamic viticulture since 2005. Jocelyn Broncard, cellar master since 2021, now ensures the continuity of vinification alongside Jean-François Ganevat.

Histoire du domaine
The Ganevat family's winemaking presence in the Jura dates back to the 17th century. After working with his father, and then for nine years at Domaine Jean-Marc Morey in Chassagne-Montrachet, Jean-François Ganevat took over the family estate in 1998. He progressively developed a highly parcel-specific production, revived several ancient grape varieties, and adopted biodynamic principles starting in 2005. In 2021, wishing to organize the transition of the estate, Jean-François Ganevat sold the vineyards, the name, and the trading activity to investor Alexander Pumpyansky, while remaining involved alongside his sister Anne; oenologist Jocelyn Broncard then joined the estate as cellar master and anticipated technical successor. Following the disruptions linked to the sanctions resulting from the invasion of Ukraine, ownership passed in 2023 to Benoît Pontenier and Jocelyn Broncard. Jean-François Ganevat remains active in the decisions and work of the estate, while Jocelyn Broncard gradually takes over the management of the cellar.
Cuvée Marguerite
Cuvée Marguerite is a Chardonnay white wine, blended with the old local selection Melon à Queue Rouge and sourced from very old vines on grey marl. It is marketed as a wine separate from Domaine Ganevat and exclusively in magnums according to several concordant sources. Its extended aging and very limited production make it a particularly rare reference from the estate.
- Origin of the cuvée name
- The cuvée is said to be named in tribute to Jean-François Ganevat's grandmother, according to a wine list documenting this origin.
- Style of the cuvée
- Concentrated and energetic dry white wine, marked by a strong mineral expression, vibrant acidity, and a broad, creamy texture resulting from extended aging.
- Position within the range
- Rare plot-selection cuvée from very old vines, produced in small quantities and marketed exclusively in magnums.
Histoire de la cuvée
The cuvée comes from very old vines, some of which are described as ungrafted (franches de pied). The date of the first bottling is not documented in the sources consulted.
