Histoire du domaine
In 1584, Jean de Pontac, Lord of Haut-Brion, granted the monks of the Carmelite Order meadows and vineyards situated to the north of his estates. The Carmelites retained the estate for nearly two centuries. Confiscated during the French Revolution, the property was acquired by Léon Colin in 1840. His descendants, the Chantecaille family, subsequently developed the estate, adding a château and landscaped grounds. The estate was sold to Patrice Pichet in 2010 and is now owned by the Pichet family. Under their ownership, the historic vineyard in Bordeaux has undergone replanting, a review of the grape varieties in favour of Cabernet Franc, and upgrades to the winemaking facilities. A new winery, designed in collaboration with Philippe Starck and the architect Luc Arsène-Henry, was completed in time for the 2015 harvest and inaugurated in 2016. Guillaume Pouthier is currently the estate manager; Stéphane Derenoncourt and his team act as consultants.
