Histoire du domaine
The family history began with Henri Sélèque, who arrived in France from Poland in 1925. Settling with his wife Françoise Bagnost on a farm in Boursault, he planted vines in Moussy and Pierry in the 1960s, then produced and marketed his first bottles in 1969 with the help of his father-in-law Jean Bagnost, who was then president of the Pierry cooperative. Their son Richard joined the estate in 1974 after training in oenology. He modernized winemaking and aging practices, equipping the property with a press, vats, barrels, and its own bottling and disgorging line, while expanding the family vineyard toward Dizy, Mardeuil, and Vertus. After viticultural and oenological studies and experiences in Maison Chandon vineyards, particularly in the New World, Jean-Marc Sélèque returned to the estate in 2008 and took charge of winemaking. He gradually reoriented the viticulture toward a more precise expression of plots and natural balances. In 2015, Jean-Marc and his wife Oriane had a new winery built in Pierry.
Soliste Meunier
Soliste Meunier is a single-plot cuvée from the lieu-dit Les Gouttes d’Or in Pierry Premier Cru. Crafted exclusively from old massal selections of Meunier, it aims for a precise expression of the grape variety and this clay-limestone terroir marked by flint calcites. It belongs to the Soliste range, based on the combination of a Pierry terroir and a single grape variety.
- Origin of the cuvée name
- The name "Soliste" refers to the musical world dear to the Sélèque family: a single plot and a single grape variety perform a score unique to the terroir.
- Cuvée creation year
- 2012
- Style of the cuvée
- Vinous and precise extra-brut Champagne, combining ripe, expressive fruit with a taut, chalky, and saline structure, with oak aging and prolonged aging on the lees.
- Position within the range
- Terroir cuvée from the Soliste range, positioned above Solessence and before the high-end blended cuvée Partition.
