This cuvée brings together Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier from the 25 hectares of walled vineyards located within the Pommery estate in Reims. For the 2003 vintage, the house highlights the high proportion of Chardonnay from the clos as well as the influence of the chalky soils. Stemming from the company Pommery & Greno, founded in 1856, it is characterised by the influence of Madame Pommery, who developed the cellars carved into the chalk pits and launched a brut champagne in 1874. The house is now owned by the Maison Pommery & Associés group and owns the 25 hectares of the Clos Pompadour vineyards, in the heart of Reims.

Histoire du domaine
The history of Pommery builds on the legacy of a Reims-based wine merchant established in 1836. The company Pommery & Greno was founded in 1856 by Louis-Alexandre Pommery and Narcisse Greno. On the death of Louis-Alexandre Pommery in 1858, his wife Jeanne-Alexandrine Pommery took over the management of the house. In July 1868, she commissioned the conversion of the old chalk cellars on the Butte Saint-Nicaise to house the cellars. The work resulted in an underground network of approximately 18 kilometres of tunnels, some thirty metres below ground. In 1874, the house launched ‘Pommery Nature’, a brut champagne that helped shape evolving tastes, which at the time were dominated by sweeter wines. The estate’s buildings were constructed between 1870 and 1878, and the cellars were opened to visitors from 1878 onwards. The site was damaged during the First World War, then rebuilt identically around 1920. After belonging to the Polignac family, the brand was sold to BSN in 1979, subsequently came under the control of LVMH, and was then acquired by Paul-François Vranken in 2002. It is now part of Maison Pommery & Associés, whilst Clément Pierlot has been the cellar master since 2017.
