Histoire du domaine
Domaine Jean-Yves Bizot has its roots in a family wine-growing heritage in Vosne-Romanée. Jean-Yves Bizot, originally trained as a geologist, also undertook training in oenology before taking over the family estate in the mid-1990s. Sources differ slightly as to whether the takeover took place in 1994 or 1995; Bizot himself cited 1995 in an interview published in 2017. His first vintage is generally given as 1998. The family vineyard he took over at that time covered approximately 2.5 hectares, according to several industry sources. An additional hectare was added to the estate in 2007, bringing the total area under cultivation to 3.5 hectares. Jean-Yves Bizot has developed a vineyard management approach inspired by organic principles, although no certification is claimed in the sources consulted. From very early on, he sought to limit the use of additives in the cellar, particularly the use of sulphur, and carries out the winemaking himself. The estate produces wines from several Burgundy appellations, including Vosne-Romanée, Échézeaux, Marsannay and Bourgogne.
Le Clos du Chapitre
Le Clos du Chapitre is a climat officially classified as a Premier Cru of the Fixin appellation, located below Clos de la Perrière. It occupies a southeast-facing slope, with an estimated altitude between 305 and 330 meters and a gradient of approximately 3 to 20%. The substrate is divided between sandy marls in the lower part and crinoidal limestone in the upper part. The rows of vines in the upper section, where the slope remains pronounced, are notably planted north-south to limit erosion.

Histoire de la parcelle
In the Middle Ages, the clos belonged to the cathedral chapter of Langres, lord of Fixey and Fixin, a historical origin directly preserved in its name. Jules Lavalle noted in 1855 that it was separated from Clos de la Perrière by a wall and located nearly two meters lower. The Fixin appellation was officially recognized in 1936, and Clos du Chapitre is now among the climats that can accompany the Premier Cru designation.
