Histoire du domaine
The estate traces its origins to the early 20th century, when Léontine Dagueneau, Valérie Dagueneau’s great-grandmother, founded it. It is situated in Les Berthiers, Saint-Andelain, one of the wine-growing hamlets in the Pouilly-Fumé region. The Dagueneau family has developed its vineyard there over several generations. Serge Dagueneau subsequently ran the estate with his daughters Florence and Valérie. In 2006, Florence and Valérie Dagueneau took over the estate; following Florence’s untimely death, Valérie has ensured its continuity. She is now in charge of winemaking and remains the designated contact for the Vignerons Indépendants. The family estate currently covers 21 hectares and produces wines from Pouilly-Fumé, Pouilly-sur-Loire and the Côtes de la Charité.
Les Filles
“Les Filles” is a distinct Pouilly-Fumé cuvée crafted from Sauvignon harvested at slight overripeness when conditions permit. Sources document a delayed manual harvest and aging combining tank and barrel. It is distinguished by greater maturity and concentration than the estate's classic expressions.
- Origin of the cuvée name
- The name refers to Florence and Valérie Dagueneau, the two daughters of Serge Dagueneau.
- Style of the cuvée
- Ripe and concentrated Pouilly-Fumé, generally marked by ripe or candied fruit, roundness and a structuring freshness, with woody or toasted nuances stemming from partial barrel aging.
- Position within the range
- Special Pouilly-Fumé cuvée resulting from a later harvest than the classic vintage.
Histoire de la cuvée
The cuvée is named after Florence and Valérie Dagueneau, daughters of Serge, who took over the family estate in 2006. The 2009 vintage, crafted by the two sisters, is the oldest bottling found in the consulted sources, though the exact year of creation cannot be established with certainty.
