Histoire du domaine
The estate was founded in the late 1970s by Marc Colin and his wife Michèle Ponavoy, using family vineyards inherited from the Colin and Ponavoy families. In 1979, the estate comprised around 6 hectares in the communes of Saint-Aubin and Chassagne-Montrachet. The vineyard expanded over the following decades. Marc and Michèle’s children subsequently became involved in running the family business. Pierre-Yves Colin left the estate to set up his own estate in 2005. Joseph Colin, in turn, struck out on his own in 2017. Domaine Marc Colin et Fils is now run by Caroline and Damien Colin. Damien Colin is responsible for winemaking, whilst the estate practises sustainable viticulture, with soil cultivation and hand-harvesting. The estate currently cultivates 11.50 hectares, mainly in Saint-Aubin, supplemented by vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet and Santenay.
Cailleret
Cailleret is a Premier Cru classified climat of the AOC Chassagne-Montrachet, located in the southern sector of the commune. The regulatory name Cailleret also acts as a flagship climat: wines originating from the climats Les Combards, Chassagne, and Vigne Derrière may be labeled under this name, which explains a broader commercial footprint than just the Cailleret cadastral plot. Professional descriptions agree on shallow clay-limestone soils that are very stony and well-draining. The published altitude and exposure figures mainly concern plots held by certain domains and cannot be applied with certainty to the entire climat.

Histoire de la parcelle
The climat belongs to the AOC Chassagne-Montrachet, recognized in 1937, and is featured today in the official list of 55 climats permitted to bear the Premier Cru designation. It was already distinguished as a "Première Cuvée" in the wine classification published by Jules Lavalle in 1855. Burgundian regulations subsequently established Cailleret as an authorized flagship climat for Les Combards, Chassagne, and Vigne Derrière.
