Jean Michel Gerin Les Grandes Places 2018 Bouteille (75cl)
The 2018 Côte-Rôtie Les Grandes Places from Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin is a red wine from the Rhône Valley, crafted exclusively from Syrah. This cuvée comes from the Les Grandes Places lieu-dit on the slopes of Côte-Rôtie overlooking Ampuis. The vines are planted on schist and mica-schist soils, a geological setting characteristic of this single-parcel selection. Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin, founded in 1983, delivers a 100% Syrah expression of the Côte-Rôtie appellation.

Histoire du domaine
The Gérin family has been established in Ampuis for six generations. Jean-Michel Gérin founded the estate in 1983 following the purchase of a plot in Côte-Rôtie, then produced his first bottle in 1987 after taking over the family vines of his grandfather Marcel and his father Alfred. In 1988, he carried out the first separate vinification of the lieu-dit Les Grandes Places; La Landonne followed in 1996. A fermentation vat room and barrel cellar were built in the early 1990s, followed by a bottle storage building in 2000. The planting of La Viallière began in 2003 on slopes reaching nearly 60%, before the release of the first bottles in 2009. A new winemaking facility was built in 2014, and Côte-Bodin was isolated for the first time in 2018. The conversion of the entire vineyard to organic farming was initiated in 2020, with certification acquired starting from the 2023 vintage. Michaël and Alexis Gérin, sons of the founder, currently manage the estate.
