Domaine Mugnier Nuits Saint-Georges Clos de la Marechale 2023 Magnum (150cl)
The 2023 Domaine JF Mugnier Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale is a red Burgundy wine made from 100% Pinot Noir. Hailing from the Clos de la Maréchale, this premier cru comes from a 9.76-hectare monopole in Premeaux, exclusively owned by the Mugnier family since 1902 and farmed once again by the estate since 2003. The estate describes this cuvée as an upright and solid Nuits-Saint-Georges, endowed with a floral expression that develops after a few years of cellaring.

Histoire du domaine
The estate was founded in 1863 by Frédéric Mugnier, a liqueur maker in Dijon. By the early 20th century, it owned nearly twenty hectares in Chambolle-Musigny and Nuits-Saint-Georges, following the acquisition of the Clos de la Maréchale in 1902. Until 1949, wine production was carried out alongside the family’s liqueur business. From 1878 onwards, the wines were marketed under the Château Chambolle-Musigny label. In 1950, Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier, the founder’s great-grandson, sold the liqueur business and leased the vineyard – by then reduced in size due to inheritance – to a wine merchant in Nuits-Saint-Georges. He resumed direct management of the Chambolle vineyards from 1978. Upon his death in 1985, his son Frédéric Mugnier took full responsibility for the family estate. In 2004, the reintegration of the Clos de la Maréchale, previously leased out, increased the estate’s size from 4 to 14 hectares. The estate is now owned by Jocelyne and Frédéric Mugnier.
Clos de la Maréchale [Rouge]
Le Clos de la Maréchale is a demarcated climat in Nuits-Saint-Georges classified as Premier Cru, located in Premeaux-Prissey in the southern part of the appellation. It forms a walled vineyard (clos) in monopole, exclusively owned by the Mugnier family since 1902. The site occupies a gentle east-facing slope on limestone soil. The BIVB explicitly lists it among the Premier Cru classified climats of the appellation.

Histoire de la parcelle
In 1855, the vineyard was called "Clos des Fourches", then "Clos Maréchal" in 1892, before the adoption of the name "Clos de la Maréchale" in the 20th century; the precise origin of this evolution remains unknown. Frédéric Mugnier acquired the clos at an auction on June 26, 1902. Farmed under a tenant-farming agreement by Faiveley from 1950 to October 31, 2003, it returned to direct farming by Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier on November 1, 2003, which produced its first new vintage in 2004.
