Domain Mugnier Bonnes Mares 2005 Bottle (75cl)
The 2005 Domaine JF Mugnier Bonnes-Mares is a red Burgundy wine from the Grand Cru climat Bonnes-Mares in the Chambolle-Musigny appellation. Owned by Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier, it is crafted exclusively from Pinot Noir. Jancis Robinson awards it 17/20 and advises drinking between 2014 and 2028. Critics describe a fine and delicate style, less earthy than some Bonnes-Mares, marked by a mineral expression and a chalky finish.

Histoire du domaine
The estate was founded in 1863 by Frédéric Mugnier, a liqueur maker in Dijon. By the early 20th century, it owned nearly twenty hectares in Chambolle-Musigny and Nuits-Saint-Georges, following the acquisition of the Clos de la Maréchale in 1902. Until 1949, wine production was carried out alongside the family’s liqueur business. From 1878 onwards, the wines were marketed under the Château Chambolle-Musigny label. In 1950, Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier, the founder’s great-grandson, sold the liqueur business and leased the vineyard – by then reduced in size due to inheritance – to a wine merchant in Nuits-Saint-Georges. He resumed direct management of the Chambolle vineyards from 1978. Upon his death in 1985, his son Frédéric Mugnier took full responsibility for the family estate. In 2004, the reintegration of the Clos de la Maréchale, previously leased out, increased the estate’s size from 4 to 14 hectares. The estate is now owned by Jocelyne and Frédéric Mugnier.
Bonnes-Mares
Bonnes-Mares is a physically delineated Grand Cru of the Côte de Nuits, split between Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis, with the largest portion located in Chambolle-Musigny. The vineyard forms approximately a rectangle south of Clos de Tart, on a gently sloping hillside with an easterly exposure. The light, gravelly, brown to reddish soils containing clay with flint rest on Jurassic limestone and white marl.

- Origin of the vineyard name
- Name attested since the late Middle Ages, of uncertain etymology. The BIVB favors the hypothesis of the old verb "marer", meaning to cultivate with care, rather than a reference to mother goddesses.
