Histoire du domaine
The Roulot family has been based in Meursault since the late 18th century. The estate, in its modern form, developed primarily from the 1950s onwards under the leadership of Guy Roulot, born in 1929. His marriage to Geneviève Coche coincided with the expansion of the family’s wine-growing estate. Guy Roulot played a key role in promoting the separate bottling of wines from several ‘lieux-dits’ in Meursault. Following his death in 1982, the estate was temporarily managed by a succession of winemakers. His son Jean-Marc Roulot, who was then pursuing a career as an actor in Paris, finally took over the estate in January 1989. He continued to expand the vineyard and converted the vines to organic farming from 1999 onwards. The estate is now run by Jean-Marc Roulot, with Éric Bodin as cellar master and head of winemaking at his side.
Vireuils
Les Vireuils is a lieu-dit within the Meursault appellation, located in the upper part of the slope to the northwest of the village, and subdivided by BIVB mapping into Les Vireuils Dessus and Les Vireuils Dessous. It holds Village level status and is not listed among the official climats authorized for the Premier Cru designation. Sources describing various parcels within the lieu-dit indicate exposures ranging from east-northeast to south-southeast, an altitude generally around 300 meters, and stony limestone soils. However, the available pedological data mainly concern specific producer parcels or, more broadly, the Meursault appellation, and do not uniformly characterize the entire lieu-dit.

Histoire de la parcelle
The lieu-dit belongs to the historic vineyard of Meursault, documented as early as the 11th century and developed notably through the holdings of the Abbey of Cîteaux starting in 1098. The Meursault appellation was officially recognized on July 31, 1937. Les Vireuils was not selected among the climats classified as Premier Cru in 1943 and remains a cadastral geographical designation that can be used with the Village appellation, subject to the labeling rules set out in the product specification.
