Domaine Dominique Laurent
Dominique Laurent is a Burgundian négociant-winemaker based in Gilly-lès-Cîteaux, renowned for an extensive range of Premiers and Grands Crus, notably Bonnes-Mares, Chambertin Clos de Bèze, and several climats in Chambolle-Musigny. His activity is based primarily on the négociant business, complemented by a small estate-owned vineyard, with particular attention paid to vinification and barrel aging.

Histoire du domaine
A former pastry chef in Vesoul, Dominique Laurent turned to wine in the late 1980s and developed a négociant house specializing in small quantities of wines from renowned terroirs of the Côte d’Or. The company DOM. LAURENT, founded on May 16, 1989 and still active in Gilly-lès-Cîteaux, is headed by Dominique Laurent. The house became particularly distinguished for its aging methods and the use of barrels from its own cooperage activity. A recent professional source attributes 5 hectares to him in addition to his négociant business, but this surface area should not be confused with that of Domaine Laurent Père et Fils: this distinct winegrowing structure was created in 2006 by Dominique Laurent and his son Jean, who is now the owner and manager of this family estate. The Bonnes-Mares, Chambertin Clos de Bèze, and Chambolle-Musigny cuvées mentioned belong to the broad historical range of the Dominique Laurent négociant house.
Charmes-Chambertin (Gevrey Chambertin)
Charmes-Chambertin is a red Grand Cru appellation and a physically demarcated terroir within the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin, comprising the lieux-dits Aux Charmes and Mazoyères. The vineyard occupies a slight piedmont bench, between 260 and 280 meters in altitude, at the mouth of the Combe Grisard. Its shallow, carbonated and well-draining soils combine limestone gravel, clays and red silts; the parcels of Aux Charmes face mostly east to east-northeast, while Mazoyères is oriented more towards the south. The demarcated area of Mazoyères-Chambertin coincides with that of Charmes-Chambertin, the latter name being commonly claimed.

Histoire de la parcelle
The reputation of the climats Aux Charmes and Mazoyères is attested as early as the 18th century. In 1855, Jules Lavalle classified them partly as first cuvée and partly as second cuvée. A 1931 ruling by the Dijon court sanctioned the addition of the name Chambertin and established the boundaries of the appellation d'origine; the AOC Charmes-Chambertin was subsequently recognized by decree on July 31, 1937. The parcel area currently specified in the product specification cahier des charges was approved by the INAO on May 17 and 18, 1984.
