Thierry Germain - Domaine des Roches Neuves - Saumur Champigny - Terres Chaudes 2017 Bouteille (75cl)
Thierry Germain - Domaine des Roches Neuves Terres Chaudes 2017 is a Loire red wine from the Saumur appellation, crafted by Domaine des Roches Neuves. This 100% Cabernet Franc cuvee expresses the variety on a chalky subsoil combined with clay-sandy soils dominated by limestone. The grapes are harvested by hand, and the wine is aged for one year on fine lees in wooden vats. Terres Chaudes thus combines a precise Loire origin with a vinification centered on the purity of Cabernet Franc.

Histoire du domaine
Domaine des Roches Neuves was established in 1850 by the Duveau family. Thierry Germain, coming from six generations of Bordeaux winemakers, and his wife Marie took over the estate in 1991, which then comprised 12 hectares of Cabernet Franc. In 1996, they expanded it with an additional 8 hectares of Cabernet Franc and 2 hectares of Chenin Blanc. The vineyard was fully converted to organic farming in the late 1990s, followed by biodynamics in the early 2000s. In 2002, Thierry Germain partnered with nurseryman Lilian Bérillon to create a private conservatory of Cabernet Franc intended for future massal selections. The estate's holdings were further enriched in 2012 with Clos de l'Échelier and Les Mémoires. Louis Germain, the eldest son of Thierry and Marie, joined the estate with his partner Agathe in 2020 and has progressively taken on more responsibilities alongside his parents.
Terres Chaudes
Terres Chaudes is a red Saumur-Champigny cuvée made from Cabernet Franc originating from the lieu-dit Les Poyeux, in Chacé. It differs from the Domaine cuvée through a longer fermentation and aging of about twelve months on fine lees in large oak vats (foudres). Its identity is built upon a more enveloping and profound expression of the clay-sandy soils over tuffeau limestone.
- Style of the cuvée
- A profound and enveloping Saumur-Champigny, retaining a floral, fresh, and chiselled profile, with ripe fruit, fine tannins, and a structure well-suited for aging.
- Position within the range
- An intermediate cuvée, deeper than the Domaine wine, positioned below the most ambitious selections in the range.
