Histoire du domaine
The origins of Domaine de la Janasse date back to 1967, when Aimé Sabon, having returned from his military service, took over the vineyards belonging to his father and father-in-law in Courthézon. At the time, his father supplied his grapes to the co-operative winery, whilst his father-in-law sold his produce to wine merchants. In 1973, Aimé Sabon built his own winery and founded the Domaine de la Janasse, named after an old family farm situated in the hamlet of La Janasse. He then expanded the estate by acquiring new plots. The estate reports that it has grown from around 15 hectares to over 90 hectares of vineyards. In 1991, his son Christophe Sabon joined the estate after studying viticulture, oenology and marketing, and took charge of the winery. Isabelle Sabon, a graduate in oenology from Toulouse, joined the team in 2001. Christophe and Isabelle Sabon are now the owners and oversee the winemaking process. In March 2026, Juliette Sabon, Christophe’s eldest daughter and a holder of the national diploma in oenology, joined the family estate.
