Dervieux Thaize Cote Rotie La Viaillere 1983 Bouteille (75cl)
Domaine Gentaz-Dervieux presents La Viallière 1983, a red Côte-Rôtie wine from the Rhône Valley crafted from Syrah. The Wine Advocate awarded it 88/100, noting during its last tasting in 1995 a dark ruby color with amber highlights, a firm and concentrated structure, and a robust expression driven by wonderful length and assertive tannins. The drinking window indicated by the publication spanned from 1995 to 2006.

Domaine Gentaz-Dervieux
Gentaz-Dervieux is a former estate in Ampuis, within the Côte-Rôtie appellation, associated with the winemaker Marius Gentaz. Its vineyard covered approximately 1.2 hectares, spread across three plots located notably in La Landonne, Côte Brune and La Viallière. The estate ceased to exist as an independent operation after the final vintage of 1993; its vines were subsequently incorporated into the René Rostaing estate.

Histoire du domaine
Marius Gentaz began working the family vineyards with his father in 1952, on an area then recorded as 1.52 hectares. By the end of his career, he was cultivating around 1.2 hectares of old Côte-Rôtie vines, spread across three plots at La Landonne, Côte Brune and La Viallière. The estate’s production was limited, estimated at 600 to 800 cases per year. The wines were matured in old barrels, then bottled by hand. Marius Gentaz retired in 1993, the year of his final vintage. The plots were then taken over as part of the family succession by René Rostaing, a relative by marriage of Marius Gentaz and son-in-law of Albert Dervieux. They now form part of the Rostaing estate; Gentaz-Dervieux therefore no longer exists as an independent producer.
