Histoire du domaine
Château Roumieu is a family-owned estate situated in Barsac, within the Haut-Barsac terroir. It has belonged to the Craveia-Goyaud family since the early 18th century. The name Roumieu is associated with an ancient pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela; the scallop shell therefore features on the estate’s label. The vineyard, situated on a clay-limestone plateau with red sands over astériate limestone, covers 15 hectares. The wine cellar, in the Neo-Basque style, was built in 1896 by the architect Fargeaudoux. Catherine Craveia-Goyaud took over the management of the estate from her father, Pierre Goyaud. Upon her death in 2009, her son Vincent Craveia took over the running of the property. Vincent Craveia is also listed as the owner and personally oversees the ageing and winemaking processes at the château.
