Histoire du domaine
The estate dates back to the early 17th century and is associated with Gabriel de Vigneau, the first known owner of this lineage. It subsequently passed through several families before being acquired in 1834 by Catherine de Pontac, Baroness of Rayne. Under the de Pontac family, the estate was classified as a Premier Grand Cru de Sauternes in the 1855 classification. Albert de Pontac, Catherine de Pontac’s grand-nephew, subsequently renamed the estate Rayne-Vigneau. The château was acquired by CA Grands Crus, a subsidiary of Crédit Agricole, in 2004; this period of ownership lasted until 2015. The Trésor du Patrimoine group, founded by Derek Rémy Smith, then took over the wine estate. The vineyard now covers 84 hectares in Bommes. Guillaume Rateau is listed as cellar master in the 2026 edition of the Green Guide published by *La Revue du vin de France*.
