Château Raymond Lafon 1979
Château Raymond Lafon 1979 is a sweet white wine from Sauternes in Bordeaux, produced by Château Raymond Lafon. Its blend combines 80% Sémillon and 20% Sauvignon Blanc. This vintage belongs to the early years of the estate under the management of Francine and Pierre Meslier, who took it over in 1972. Unclassified in 1855 because it was created too late, the estate practices successive tries (selective pickings) for its Sauternes cuvée.

Histoire du domaine
Château Raymond-Lafon was founded in 1850 by Raymond Lafon, too late to feature in the 1855 wine classification. The estate is situated within the Sauternes appellation, with plots in the communes of Sauternes, Bommes and Preignac. In 1972, Francine and Pierre Meslier acquired the estate. An agricultural engineer, Pierre Meslier had worked for twenty-seven years at Château d’Yquem, where he served as estate manager and then director, depending on the source. He then undertook the restoration and development of the Raymond-Lafon vineyard. From 1990 onwards, their children Marie-Françoise, Charles-Henri and Jean-Pierre Meslier became involved in running the estate. Pierre Meslier passed away in the spring of 2023. The estate remains in the family; Marie-Françoise Meslier is the current manager of the operating company. The 2026 Green Guide published by *La Revue du vin de France* lists Henri Boyer as the château’s oenologist.
