Histoire du domaine
The estate’s origins date back to 1689, when it was founded by Pierre de Rauzan. In 1694, it passed into the hands of the Pichon Longueville family following the marriage of Thérèse de Rauzan to Jacques de Pichon Longueville. In 1850, the estate was divided amongst the five children of Baron Joseph de Pichon-Longueville. Virginie de Pichon Longueville and her sisters received a share of the vineyard; Virginie, who became Countess of Lalande through marriage, gave her name to the estate and had the château built. In 1855, Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande was classified as a Second Grand Cru in the Imperial Classification of Médoc wines. The Miailhe family acquired the estate in 1925. From the 1980s onwards, May-Eliane de Lencquesaing contributed to the estate’s international development. In 2007, Champagne Louis Roederer acquired the château. Nicolas Glumineau is currently the managing director and head of winemaking.
