Histoire du domaine
Péby Faugères was established in 1998 using the finest Merlot plots from Château Faugères. Its name pays tribute to Pierre-Bernard Guisez, the estate’s former owner, nicknamed ‘Péby’. The vineyard is situated as a single contiguous block on the clay-limestone slopes of Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse, in the eastern part of the Saint-Émilion appellation. Silvio Denz acquired Château Péby Faugères in 2005 and incorporated it into his portfolio of Bordeaux estates. From the 2009 vintage onwards, the bottles have featured a Lalique engraving entitled ‘Merle et Raisins’. The château was recognised as a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé in the 2012 classification. The conversion of the vineyard to organic farming began in 2017, and AB certification was obtained with the 2020 vintage. A new winery designed by architect Mario Botta opened in 2021. Emma Bouty has been appointed by the estate as cellar master at Château Péby Faugères, under the oenological supervision of Daniel Romero.
