Histoire du domaine
The château’s origins date back to at least 1697, when Louise Escousses sold the property to Simon Malescot, an adviser to King Louis XIV at the Parliament of Bordeaux. He gave his name to the estate. On 5 February 1827, Count Jean-Baptiste de Saint-Exupéry acquired the property and added his surname to that of Malescot. He was the great-grandfather of the aviator and writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Following financial difficulties, his widow sold the estate at auction in 1853. The château was classified as a third growth in the 1855 classification. In 1870, the owners Fourcade and Boissac had the château and wine cellars built, before selling the estate in 1901. After several changes of ownership, Paul and Roger Zuger purchased the estate on 1 June 1955, by which time it comprised just 7 hectares of vineyards. Jean-Luc Zuger succeeded his father Roger in 1994. The estate is now owned by Catherine and Jean-Luc Zuger; Marie Khan-Chaballier serves as cellar master there.
