Histoire du domaine
Château Lalande-Borie was founded in 1970 by Jean-Eugène Borie, a member of the family that owns Château Ducru-Beaucaillou in Saint-Julien. The estate was established from a plot of approximately 30 hectares originally belonging to a third-growth estate within the appellation, generally identified as Château Lagrange. Sources dedicated to the estate indicate that approximately 22 hectares were planted with vines. The historic vineyard was situated to the west of the Saint-Julien appellation, on gravelly and sandy soils, close to Lagrange and Talbot. Following Jean-Eugène Borie, the estate remained within the Borie family, with Bruno Borie in particular involved in its management. Until the 2018 vintage, Lalande-Borie was marketed under its own name. From the 2019 vintage onwards, this label was replaced by Le Petit Ducru de Ducru-Beaucaillou, presented as the third wine of Château Ducru-Beaucaillou. Lalande-Borie therefore no longer constitutes an independent wine-producing entity under this name.
