Histoire du domaine
The estate’s origins date back to the 16th century, when it was known as Domaine de Rochet. It took the name Château Lafon-Rochet in 1790, following the marriage of Antoinette de Guillemotes to Étienne de Lafon. The château was classified as a Fourth Grand Cru in the 1855 classification. From 1897 to 1924, Frédéric Audon, who also owned Château Lilian Ladouys, merged the two estates. The Tesseron family acquired Lafon-Rochet in 1960; Guy Tesseron then began the reconstruction of the charterhouse and the restructuring of the vineyard. His son Michel succeeded him in 1999 and had the winemaking equipment modernised; the charterhouse was repainted in golden yellow in 2000. Basile Tesseron subsequently took over the management of the estate in 2007. The vineyard began the transition to organic farming in 2020, prior to the château’s acquisition by the Lorenzetti family in 2021. Certified as an organic estate in 2024, Lafon-Rochet then incorporated Château Lilian Ladouys into its portfolio; Vincent Bache-Gabrielsen manages the estates and Frédéric Renaut is the cellar master.
