Histoire du domaine
Lacoste-Borie is not an independent wine estate, but the second label of Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste, in Pauillac. Its name combines that of the Lacoste family, linked to the estate’s history in the 19th century, with that of the Borie family, the château’s current owners. The name Lacoste first appeared following the marriage of Marie-Jeanne de Saint-Guirons to François Lacoste. Their son, Pierre-Frédéric Lacoste, inherited the estate in 1844 and had the château rebuilt in 1855, the year it was classified amongst the Médoc’s crus classés. Following the sale of the estate by the Lacoste descendants in 1926, Raymond Dupin acquired it in 1932. He subsequently sold Grand-Puy-Lacoste to Jean-Eugène Borie in 1978. François-Xavier Borie then undertook the restructuring of the vineyard and the modernisation of the technical facilities. Lacoste-Borie was established in 1982; it brings together the château’s wines not selected for the Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste blend. Domaines François-Xavier Borie have owned Grand-Puy-Lacoste since 2003, and Benoît Estassy currently serves as cellar master there.
