Histoire du domaine
The origins of the plots that would go on to form Haut-Marbuzet date back to the 18th century. In 1770, Pétronille and Rose Fatin inherited vineyards which were subsequently passed on, in 1825, to the Mac Carthy family, descendants of Irish Jacobite emigrants. Following a dispute over the estate, the Mac Carthy estate was divided up and a seven-hectare plot took the name Haut-Marbuzet. In 1952, Hervé Duboscq acquired this plot on a life annuity basis and set about rebuilding the vineyard. His son Henri joined the estate in 1962, before taking over its management in 1973. The Duboscq family gradually brought together plots from the former Mac Carthy estate and also acquired the châteaux of Chambert-Marbuzet, Tour de Marbuzet and Mac Carthy. The estate was classified as a ‘Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel’ in the 2003 classification. Today, the property is managed by GFA H. Duboscq & Fils; Henri Duboscq is listed as the director, whilst Bruno Duboscq is in charge of technical matters and Hugues Duboscq of sales.
