Histoire du domaine
The first harvest recorded on the site took place in 1618 under the current owner. Peyraguey, whose name refers to a hill or promontory, was a former barony acquired in the 18th century by M. de Pichard, President of the Parliament of Bordeaux. The estate was known as Château Peyraguey at the time of the 1855 classification, when it was designated a Premier Cru de Sauternes. Between 1864 and 1879, ownership passed from Saint-Rieul Dupouy to Count Duchâtel. When the latter’s estate was divided up in 1879, the estate was split: the highest-lying part became Clos Haut-Peyraguey, whilst another part took the name Lafaurie-Peyraguey. The Clos was then acquired by Mr Grillon, a Parisian chemist. From 1914 onwards, it belonged to the Pauly family. Bernard Magrez acquired it at the end of 2012. In 2025, Anthony Defives was appointed by Bernard Magrez as operations manager of Clos Haut-Peyraguey and is involved in overseeing the grape harvest and winemaking processes.
