Histoire du domaine
The Clos du Marquis brand was established in the early 20th century, when vines were planted on the Petit Clos, adjacent to Château Léoville Las Cases, the former residence of the Marquis de Las Cases. Its first vintage was 1902. From the outset, the aim of this brand was to highlight the expression of terroirs distinct from those of the Léoville Las Cases vineyard. The vineyard producing Clos du Marquis has historically remained separate from that of Léoville Las Cases. Today, it is mainly situated on the terroirs of Saint-Julien, notably close to Léoville Poyferré and Léoville Barton. Long presented as the second wine of Léoville Las Cases, Clos du Marquis is now regarded as a wine in its own right, produced from dedicated plots. The estate remains within the Domaines Delon portfolio and is owned by the Delon family. Michael Georges is currently in charge of its technical management.
