Histoire du domaine
Château Le Bon Pasteur was founded in the 1920s at a place known as Maillet, in Pomerol, by Joseph and Hermine Dupuy, Michel Rolland’s maternal grandparents. The estate’s name refers to Good Shepherd Sunday, celebrated after Easter. Born in 1947, Michel Rolland grew up on this family estate. In 1973, he went into partnership with Dany Rolland at an oenological analysis laboratory in Libourne. Following the death of his father, Serge Rolland, in 1979, he took over the management of the estate alongside his mother, whilst continuing his work at the laboratory. Michel and Dany Rolland subsequently oversaw the technical development of the estate and its winemaking processes. In June 2013, the estate was acquired by the Goldin Group, then headed by Sutong Pan; the second wine, L’Étoile de Bon Pasteur, was launched with the 2013 vintage. Benoît Prévot, who has been at the château since 1989 and was formerly technical manager of the Rolland vineyards, was appointed vineyard manager following this acquisition and now leads the team as director and oenologist. The company accounts of SAS Le Bon Pasteur show that, as at 31 December 2023, its share capital was wholly owned by Eagle Dynasty Investments Limited, a company incorporated under the laws of Hong Kong. Michel Rolland passed away on 20 March 2026; the UGCB states that Julien Viaud is now providing technical expertise alongside the team led by Benoît Prévot.
