Champagne Taittinger Collection Vasarely 1983 Bouteille (75cl)
The 1983 Champagne Taittinger Collection Vasarely is a white sparkling champagne from Maison Taittinger, produced in Champagne. Classified as a Champagne Grand Cru, it blends Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The Collection Vasarely cuvée pays tribute to Victor Vasarely: its design features a geometric language playing on the illusion of relief, characteristic of kinetic art. It is part of the Taittinger Collection series, inaugurated in 1983 around the dialogue between vintage champagne and contemporary creation.

Histoire du domaine
Pierre Taittinger was introduced to the Champagne trade in 1911 whilst working at the Union Champenoise. Deeply impressed by the Château de la Marquetterie during the First World War, he acquired it in 1932 together with his brother-in-law, Paul Evêque. In the same year, they bought the Forest-Fourneaux house, then one of the oldest Champagne houses, which formed the basis of the family business. François Taittinger subsequently developed the brand under the name Taittinger and made Chardonnay a central component of his style. In 1952, he created the Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs cuvée. He also pursued a land acquisition strategy, purchasing 110 hectares of vineyards in 1955. Following his death in 1960, his brother Jean played a part in the house’s continued development and international expansion. The house was sold to the Starwood Capital Group in 2005, before Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger regained control in 2006. Since January 2020, his daughter Vitalie Taittinger has chaired the family business, whilst Alexandre Ponnavoy has been in charge of winemaking as cellar master since 2018.
Collection Vasarely
As the first edition of the Taittinger Collection, this cuvée pairs a 1978 Brut Millésimé with a bottle conceived as an artistic medium by Victor Vasarely. The wine is a blend of 40% Chardonnay from the Grands Crus of the Côte des Blancs and 60% Pinot Noir from the Grands Crus of the Montagne de Reims. Its geometric trompe-l'œil design illustrates the artist's characteristic kinetic art.

Histoire de la cuvée
Claude Taittinger launched the Taittinger Collection in 1983 to create a dialogue between champagne and contemporary art. Victor Vasarely inaugurated the series that same year by dressing the 1978 Brut Millésimé, making this bottle the first of the Collection's artistic editions.
