Histoire du domaine
Claude Moët founded his wine merchant’s business in Épernay in 1743. His grandson, Jean-Rémy Moët, subsequently developed overseas markets and contributed to the company’s international expansion. In 1816, Pierre-Gabriel Chandon de Briailles became his business partner. When Jean-Rémy Moët retired from the business in 1833, the company was passed on to his son Victor Moët-Romont and his son-in-law Pierre-Gabriel Chandon de Briailles. It then took the name Moët & Chandon. During the 19th century, the house significantly increased its shipments and commercial presence. It is now part of the LVMH group, within MHCS. Benoît Gouez has served as cellar master there since 2005.
Dom Pérignon
Dom Pérignon is a prestige cuvée produced exclusively as a vintage champagne, with certain years possibly not declared. Always a blend, it seeks harmony between the character of the vintage and the signature of the house. The Vintage benefits from at least eight years of aging before its release.
- Origin of the cuvée name
- The cuvée is named after Dom Pierre Pérignon, cellarer of the Hautvillers Abbey from 1668, whose creative ambition and pursuit of excellence it claims.
- Cuvée creation year
- 1921
- Style of the cuvée
- Blended vintage champagne striving above all for harmony, featuring a general profile marked by precision, intensity, a tactile dimension, minerality, and the complexity acquired through long maturation on lees.
- Position within the range
- Historical prestige cuvée, today an autonomous house and the pinnacle of the vintage champagne offering within Moët Hennessy.
Histoire de la cuvée
Created by Moët & Chandon starting from the 1921 harvest, Dom Pérignon was first marketed in 1936. Historically presented as the "Cuvée Dom Pérignon" of Moët & Chandon, it is now developed as a distinct House within Moët Hennessy.
